WABI-SABI

Interior Designer Shuhei Sasaoka ( Design Office WASABI) had been independent from other Design Office, and he have just established his own design office named WASABI which name come from the view of Wabi-Sabi sprits.

Wabi-Sabi represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centred on the acceptance of transience. The phrase comes from the two words wabi and sabi. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" .
The words wabi and sabi do not translate easily.Wabi now connotes rustic simplicity, freshness or quietness, and can be applied to both natural and human-made objects, or understated elegance.Sabi is beauty or serenity that comes with age, when the life of the object and its impermanence are evidenced in its patina and wear, or in any visible repairs.

Mr.Sasaoka asked us to deliver the veneered panel for the big-long table in his new office, and we were satisfied to choose " White Plain Sycamore veneer" for it. The Plain-Sycamore, it has just the simple soft grain on the natural-white texture, very simple, not decorative one.But we both agreed that this simple, beauty wooden texture must suited to his "Wabi-Sabi concept".
Now,his new designs are planing on this big wabi-sabi-table,so we can not miss his coming projects based on his sensibility harmonized of Japanes old and new culture.
