With the help of designing, providing a value to wood thinned from forests that have no value as noble wood.Mr.Sawai a local proffesional mining engineer, understands our ecological challenge and cooperates with us.
This time he took us into the mountain in far north area of Hokkaido Island "Abashiri" region where the fist snow of the year was falling, and he found out and cut down a Japanese oak tree for us.
“This tree needs to be chopped down any time now.”
Muttering, he took down an 11m high tree from the mountain.
“Everyone leaves the mountain because they cannot earn a living by forestry. They will be astonished if they know that such a tree can be usable and get the money!.”
He said so happily while smoking a cigarette.
Two 4m long woods and one 3m long wood were cut out of the fallen tree, and they are all transferred to Asahikawa city to be sawn up and slice for wood veneer.

そう呟きながら１１ｍもの木を１本切り出し、山から降ろしてくれました。
「林業では食えなくなってみんな山から逃げていく。
こんな木が使いものになるってみんなが知ったら
腰抜かすだろうな・・・」
タバコを吸いながら
嬉しそうに語ってくれた。
４ｍ２本、３ｍ１本。
余すところなく旭川に運んで製材。
