WABI-SABI

Interior Designer Shuhei Sasaoka ( Design Office WASABI) had been independent from other Design Office, and he have just established his own design office named WASABI which name come from the view of Wabi-Sabi sprits.

Wabi-Sabi represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centred on the acceptance of transience. The phrase comes from the two words wabi and sabi. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" .
The words wabi and sabi do not translate easily.Wabi now connotes rustic simplicity, freshness or quietness, and can be applied to both natural and human-made objects, or understated elegance.Sabi is beauty or serenity that comes with age, when the life of the object and its impermanence are evidenced in its patina and wear, or in any visible repairs.

Mr.Sasaoka asked us to deliver the veneered panel for the big-long table in his new office, and we were satisfied to choose " White Plain Sycamore veneer" for it. The Plain-Sycamore, it has just the simple soft grain on the natural-white texture, very simple, not decorative one.But we both agreed that this simple, beauty wooden texture must suited to his "Wabi-Sabi concept".
Now,his new designs are planing on this big wabi-sabi-table,so we can not miss his coming projects based on his sensibility harmonized of Japanes old and new culture.

The TOKYO-BAY DREAM

This is the hidden house where you can see the beautiful view of Tokyo Bay.
This room is owned by one dandy gentleman who is looking foward to watching the "TOKYO Bay Fireworks Festival" tonight from his room top above 36nd floors.
This room was designed by Mr.Michio Anazawa ( designapplet )and he tells the story of this project that "The only request from the cliente is to set up the place with enough atmosphere in order to display his various collections of arts." Evano Veneer was adopted as the one of the material to work for it.

This story tells the particular dream of Tokyo successor and it shows the "Dream of Modern Tokyo Life Style".

Mr.Michio Anazawa who made this dandy's dream is one of the new noteworthy interior designer in Tokyo as a hot stock. He runs his designing works under the name of "designapplet".
"applet" is now well used as the software component language like "Java applet",and it can run in the context of another program. It is just the small device, but it's works making the unimaginable world. It's the same as designers works!

According to the weather focus in Tokyo, it is getting fine and no crowds at night.
Tonight, many fireworks wil be sparking on and Mr.Anazawa's applet-program will start to run!

veneer meets afro-music!

Just the simple rectanglar box, but it plays a cool but very hot sound!!
Before you read further article, you must click here to hear his voice.

How nice sound he made!!
He is Cajon ,the music instrument most widely used as a Afro-Peruvian percussion which was developed in costal Peru in early 1800's, and now it is getting well known music instrument not only for Latin Rumba music but also the sound have been brought into the Flamenco music. Also,in recent years, due to such a hot sound and it's handiness, the Street-Musicians welcome this Cajon to their music instrument for playing it's wonderful rhythms

Mr.Yoshiro Aonuma (ARCO Percussion Co,.ltd)the Japanese leading Cajon manufacturer adopt our various veneers for it. We have great respect for his inquiring mind making the better sound with it. His Cajon is decorated with the several kinds of natural veneer. But we are surprised his message that " Veneer is not only it's decoration, even though the veneer is very thick, different veneer makes different sound. It's characteristic reflect on the sound and each veneer makes different sound.Quite difference compared with the non veneered plain plywood." Through htis opportunity, meeting with him makes us realizing again the interest of natural-veneers.
