DNA of Kyoto-Tradition

KARAKAMI is an art paper that came from Tang Dynasty. It is a paper where various traditional patterns are block-printed by using mainly the powder of granitic crystal that gives off vague light and that made by grinding seashells. In Kyoto that is an ancient city of Japan, KARAKAMI had developed as KYO-KARAKAMI in the Edo era and been used in a temple and tea house, etc. and still have had fresh and sophisticated beauty.
Kakuo Matsumura (KAKUO Archtect Office　, special assigned by his assistants Satoshi Kusakabe,Tsutomu Aoshima) who living in Kyoto incorporates his tasteful sensitivity of Kyoto-traditional into modern design well. In the apartment that he worked on this time, he produced tasteful atmosphere of Kyoto-traditional well by engraving motif of flower whose language is the name of the apartment into a metal and harmonizing it with a wooden-veneered panel. It is his unique design that is analogical to KYO-KARAKAMI,and surely the tradition and culture of ancient city has been taking over with the DNA genom of such a outstanding young designers.

唐紙とは、中国の唐から伝わった美術紙。 主にやんわりと光を放つ花崗岩の結晶の粉や貝殻をすりつぶした粉を使用して、さまざまな伝統文様を木版刷りした紙。日本の古都、京都では京唐紙として江戸時代に発展し、寺院、茶室などに使われ、今でも新鮮で洗練された美しさを感じさせる。
京都在住らしく”雅”な感性を上手くモダンデザインに組み込む松村　佳久男氏（カクオ　アーキテクトオフィス)。

彼のオフィスの 若手、日下部 聡氏、青嶋 務氏が今回手掛けた京都のマンションにおいても、マンション名を花言葉で持つ花のモチーフ をメタルに刻み込み、突板パネルと調和させながら雅な雰囲気を上手く演出している。
京唐紙を彷彿させる彼独特のデザインであり、京都の伝統文化はＤＮＡのごとく、彼らのようなデザイナーによって確実に受け継がれているのである。

Breath of LOHAS

"LOHAS" is the one of the important key-word in the world of current interior-design scene.
The building "BREEZE Tower" opend last year in the gate of Osaka city is also the one of the building which accept the it's LOHAS concept.
The name, “BREEZÉ,” is a coined word based on “breeze” that means soyokaze in English. This naming derives from the structure which adopted glass as its overall exterior appearance and made natural ventilation due to wind possible.

"Bougnat Bougnat" is the café restaurant we can enjoy familiar culture and atmosphere of French café and Italian bar in this facility.
This cafe-restaurant was designed by Tomoji Kawano (Cong Design Office) and he well futured the stucco,natural woods,reclaimed woods,and other LOHAS matarials in order to adjust the it's delivering organic dishes and also to the LOHAS concept of this building.

It produces the feeling of LOHAS well based on the design of authentic European café style, and avoids lack of individuality that sometimes happens in such a motif and expresses playful mind by placing uneven chairs and the unique-sruface table made with "Metropolitan Style Veneer". There is a space that is full of animation and has originality, warmth, and comfortableness. Mr. Kawano demonstrates in this project that we can produce more enjoyable life style by incorporating design into LOHAS well.

今日の建築デザインシーンにおいて、”ＬＯＨＡＳ"という言葉は今や重要なキーワードの一つとなった。
日本第二の都市、大阪の玄関口に昨年オープンしたBREESE TOWERもそのひとつ。 名称の「ブリーゼ」は英語で”そよ風”を意味するbreezeをもとにした造語であり、ダブルスキンファサード という全面外装のガラス構造を採用し、風による自然換気が行われることから命名されている。 そこには自然と生活が一体化した心地良い空間が存在する。
この施設内にあるBougnat Bougnat（ブーニャブーニャ）はフランスのカフェやイタリアのバールの日常に溶け込んだ文化や空気感を楽しめるお店。
この店舗デザインは、河野知二氏（コングデザインオフィス）による設計で、ビルコンセプトであるエコロジーやＬＯＨＡＳ思考をこのバールの手作り感のあるオーガニック志向の料理に反映させる為、内装の仕上げ材も、漆喰、天然木、古材、ロハス材を ふんだんに使用している。オーセンティックなヨーロッパカフェスタイルデザインをベースにＬＯＨＡＳ感を上手く演出している。ともすれば、没個性になりがちなデザインモチーフに、敢えて不揃いの椅子を配置したり、Metropolitan Style Veneere を使用したテーブルを上手く配置することで、遊び心を上手く表現。オリジナリティーとやさしく居心地のいい、活気あふれる空間が生まれている。

ともすればシンプルになりがちなLOHASというスタイルに、デザインを上手く組み合わせれば、より楽しいライフスタイルが 演出できることを河野氏はこのプロジェクトで証明している。

For Whom the Chair Being

Kichiro Isoda ( Isoda architects office )is the premier interior coordinator assign to welfare living environment.He participate the interior design not only focus on design but how effective it worksto human. Now he is popular professor who conduct the seminar regarding to “Barrier Free”, not only for his client but also to the architects and surgical attendant.People often tend to think that barrier-free means simply eliminating difference in level for floors and mounting hand railings on walls so that elderly people can have comfortable lives. However, the barrier-free proposed by him indicates the reform designed to break down “barriers in mind”. For elderly people who tend to stay at home alone, his proposal is, for instance, to make nice living rooms where they are tempted to invite their friends or landscape gardens where they are tempted to go outside for taking care of plants. Even the life style could be change a lot by just setting the one comfortable chair in outside,he said!

The “happiness” of elderly people that he thinks is not a physical “convenience” but a whole “system to refresh themselves”. The residents who had his barrier-free reforms are vibrant as expected. It should be recognized as his original and unique"Universal Design" concept.

Even for elderly people, no difference in level and hand rails, for example, might be totally unnecessary.

磯田吉郎氏（磯田建築事務所）は福祉住環境インテリアデザインの第一人者。家つくりを形で捕らえず、生活を重視したデザインにこだわる。彼は講師としても各地を飛び回り、バリアフリーについての講演は勿論、建築を学ぶ学生に福祉住環境の必要性を教えたり、介護福祉士に建築の大切さを教えたりと幅広く活躍している。

一般的にバリアフリーとは高齢者が快適に生活できるように、単に床の段差をなくしたり壁に手摺をつけたりするものと考えられがちである。しかし彼の提唱するバリア フリーとは”心のバリア”をはずしてあげることを目的としたリフォームのことを示す。独りで家の中に篭りがちになる高齢者に対して、例えば、友人を呼びたくなるような素敵なダイニングを作ったり、屋外に出て植物の世話をしたくなるような庭を造ってあげたりする。屋外に居心地のいい椅子を一つ設置するだけで、高齢者のライフスタイルは変わるという。

彼の考える高齢者の”幸せ”とは、物理的な”便利” さではなく、”元気を取り戻す仕組み”そのものなのである。まさにデザインが生活を変える彼流のユニバーサルデザインだ。

彼のバリアフリーリフォームを受けた住人は、やはり元気がある。高齢者でも段差や手摺なんか まったく不要になるかも？

Window Shop'ing?

The Japanese architect familiar with "FRAME" readers,Hisashi Hojin (Office HIyoshizaka) newly designed the glasses optician's shop.(Jin's Grobal Standard Shinsuna)

He installed many walls that has a lot of wooden flamed windows.The walls are placed to get to come inside space created, interacted each other, and then totally another different space appeared. It seems that the windows are enjoy talking each other

.In addition to it's unique design,we have to pay attention to it's constructing technique that the edge never appeared in the wooden flame of window. It helpes the customer to see though the windows without any barrier.Very simple device but very important to his concept.

Browsing for glasses at Jin’s Global Standard Shinsuna is just as enjoyable as window-shopping, but then indoors.

オランダのインテリア雑誌　FRAMEではおなじみの日本人インテリアデザイナー　寳神　尚史氏　（日吉坂事務所）は、人気眼鏡店JIN's Grobal Standard 新砂店のデザインを手掛けた。彼は店内に壁を作り、そこに木で枠取られた沢山の窓を設置している。壁は空間内部につくられているが、窓を空けることによって、各々に仕切られた空間が相互に演出される効果をもたらしている。窓達が 楽しく会話をしているかの様にも見える。 さらに注目すべきポイントは、窓の木のフレームに”枠”（小口）が表れていないことだ。枠が無いだけで窓の内部に自然と吸い込まれるような不思議な感覚を与えている。シンプルな構造ではあるが彼のコンセプトには重要な部分であったに違いない。

インドアなのにウインドウショッピングが楽しめる？

Designer with a unique perspective that crosses over into other field and transcends the practical style.

Hiroki Michishita showed us his genius as a interior designer who could choose the materials for the space design. The veneer species he featured is "Bocongo" which must shows the western modern style,not Japanese. But he have got the flash of inspiration that he could use it to his Japanese architecture.
That westernized veneer species blends with surroundings items and well produces the atmosphere of Japanese modern style.This idea deserves our acclaim.The story tells us that designer is better at visualizing ideas than each professionals.
"The material is not chosen on the style, but above the style, everything he choose could be" he added.

SWING,SWING,SWING ♪♪

"SWING" is the form of Jazz music that developed in the early 1930s. Since then,People have been in fine with dancing on this pleasant "swinging" rhythm.

The verb" swing" is also used as a term of praise for playing that has a strong rhythm "groove" or "drive".

The beat and spirit of "swing" always make people so elated and giving them a fun!

There are few passers-by who are unimpressed when they see the many colorful clothes in the unique interior design which featured light-colored various burl woods and marble stones.The combination of two,materials and clothes are so in contrast ,but certainly helps in attracting visitors with giving them the pleasant feeling like "swing".

This shop (GALLARDAGALANTE Nagoya Lachic)are designed by architectural space-design office named "SWING".

Names of things often represent their true quintessence.So they are sure to be the designers-orchestra playing the "swing".

It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing!!

Their design works proves that there are still many ways for design-work to contribute to make the gratifying experience for visiting customers.

スウィングとは1930年代に登場したジャズ音楽の形式で、この心地よく軽やかなリズムは、今でも人々をダンスに興じさせる魅力を持つ。

”スウィング”という言葉は、音楽だけではなく、”グルーブ”や”ドライブ”といった言葉と同じく、”人の心を躍らせる”という意味にも広く使われている。そう、この”スウィング”という言葉は、感覚として常に人々に興奮と楽しみを与え続けてきているのだ。

なんとなく歩いていると明るい色調のコブ杢と大理石で覆われた広い空間の中に、カラフルな服や小物類が突然、目に飛び込んでくる。

華やか、且つナチュラルなインテリアと色とりどりの服、小物類の異なるコントラスト、そしてその配置。人々は何故かそのショップへと軽快なステップで自然と導かれてしまう。まさにそこには”スウィング”感が存在するのだ。
